Ring Dance!!!

Ring Dance finally arrived! And it was so, so, so much fun!! 

After my plane arrived in Denver on Thursday, Taylor, Marie, Ryan, and I drove up to Steamboat to take our cars to the cabin . . . 

We drove all through the mountains where there is STILL snow! I couldn't believe it!!

We woke up Friday morning to some pretty gross weather and I had hopes that it would clear up later in the afternoon but it ended up raining all. day. long. We didn't let it bother us though and we got some pretty good pictures before dinner!

Then we headed to dinner where we had to sit through a speaker and eat before Taylor could have his ring! The speaker was pretty good though, and the food was yummy!

Then, we finally started the ring christening! For this, the cadet has to put his ring in a glass of champagne . . .

Drink the champagne . . .

Pass it to his date . . .

And finally . . . get his ring!!!

After the cadets got their rings, the dining hall was pretty much mass chaos while everyone was running around showing off their rings! We took lots more pictures and then headed over to the dance. We didn't stay long because our limo arrived to take us to Steamboat Springs for the weekend! It was a lot of fun because none of us had to worry about being tired and driving 4 hours up to the mountains and we all got to be together and hang out! Even though we all slept the last hour and a half! Our cabin was amazing to say the least and I wish we could have gotten to stay there longer than just 2 nights! On Sunday afternoon we headed back to the Academy and relaxed for the evening in our hotel room. Then, I flew back to Texas on Monday evening :( I was so sad to leave after such a fun weekend! 

But the good news is . . . 

I get to see Taylor later this week when we head to DC!

I can't wait to see Whitney either, I hate that she lives so far away! 

Not as planned

So you know how I said I was going to enjoy a nice relaxing weekend? Well, things didn't exactly go accordingly. My plan was to sleep in until noon on Saturday and what time did my eyes open? 8 AM!!! Then I figured that since I was awake, I might as well see what my mom was doing for the day. Turns out she was going to Tyler to see my grandma so, I decided to go too and surprise her. We had a great day! Lunch, shopping, and a nap! Then, I didn't want to drive the 3 hours back to College Station so I followed mom home to Frost so I could see the rest of my family. So instead of sleeping in really late, I drove about  6 hours total. It was worth it though, I'm glad I got to spend Mother's Day with mom! 

P.S. My dress is going to be ready TOMORROW! So if you want to see all of it, send me your e-mail address! (Except for you, Taylor- you'll have to wait!!)

Ring Dance is 11 days away! 

2 Week Summer Vacation!!

Today is the last day of school for me, and the first day of my 2 week summer vacation! (I start summer school on June 1st) I thought I was going to have another final but found out today that I am FOR SURE exempt from it. All I can say is WOOOOO! 

My Saturday is going to start tomorrow sometime after 12 probably. I don't remember the last time I slept in until noon so that is going to be amazing. 

This weekend is Mother's Day as well and I've very sad that I won't be able to go home and help my mom celebrate. She is leaving for the state tennis tournament however so I would be going home to an empty house and . . . well B-O-R-I-N-G. 

This semester has been pretty stressful, especially these past few weeks so Cassie and I have decided to take an "after finals" trip. SO, we will be going next Wednesday to Lubbock! We are looking forward to hanging out with Kristofer and Ryan for a few days! 

THEN, after we get back from our trip, I will work for a couple of days and then take off to Colorado!!!! Which, by the way is . . .

  LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AWAY! 

I am so ready to get on that plane that I'm not even worried about the annoying people I will meet. Hopefully the weirdos will avoid me this time and break my streak! 

So far I've met . . .

1. Old man who crawled over me to get out of his seat

2. Old man who asked me if I rode horses

3. Woman who told me all about her crazy daughter-in-law who doesn't let her see her grandchild

4. Cowboy who also asked if I rode horses (I've decided it's an old man pickup line)

5. Guy who offered me a beer on the plane

6. Girl who told me I was crazy for not flying to Colorado every other weekend

7. Guy who hummed for 2.5 hours to his iPod

8. Lady who kept her down-filled ski jacket in her lap and hit me in the face every 5 minutes

9. Old man who didn't notice I was listening to music the entire time he talked to me. 

10. Kid who asked me every 5 minutes how to change the channel on the TV (he hadn't paid to watch so there was no other channel besides the preview channel)

I am just so excited to get to Colorado, see Taylor, wear my dress, see Taylor get his ring, and just hangout that I don't even mind all the crazies! 

Dress Update!

So today I went to the alterations shop and my dress is now being fitted to LBMM size! The finished product will be ready next Monday, and after seeing it all pinned up, I am so excited! 

I may or may not be wearing it every day until Ring Dance . . . just kidding! 

Official Countdown stands at 16 days now! 

That's all I have :) back to avoiding studying for finals now!

The Dress Adventure!

So Friday night was quite an adventure for LBMM . . .

On thursday I had received an e-mail from UPS telling me to expect my dress on Friday! This was much sooner than I had originally planned to have it come in so the news made me extremely happy. Now, UPS and I have gone round and round in the past about "expected delivery dates" so I wasn't going to hold my breath for too long. Then around 4 on Friday afternoon I got another e-mail saying that the Bryan UPS man had it out for delivery! yay! Well I had planned on going to Frost for the weekend after I got off work at 5, and so when the package still wasn't delivered by around 5:30 I was starting to get impatient (I know it's hard for you to believe that LBMM gets impatient) But anyways, after calling Bryan UPS I found out that it is not possible to track a UPS man. So I would have to wait. I was very sad when it became 7:30 and my dress had still not arrived, so I decided that I could not wait any longer because I had a 2.5 hour drive ahead of me. Then as I was getting ready to leave, I received a bit of false hope---a UPS truck was making a delivery on our street AND THEN HE LEFT!!!! I figured that was my last hope for seeing my dress so I told my roommate Kinsey to call me if they dropped it off and just let me know if it came in. I wasn't even 5 miles outside of Bryan before he called and said it had been delivered! So of course I had to drive back and get it! I was just too close!

The first thing I did when I got back to Frost was of course put the dress on! And then what happens?? IT FALLS OFF! It was the right size and everything, I had even tried on that size before I ordered it. But when I get stressed, (Finals time anyone??) I lose weight. 8 pounds of weight to be exact. Of course that doesn't happen when it's time to put that swimsuit on every year, but when I have to fit into a dress? You bet! So, I will not only be getting my dress shortened (that was a given) I will also be having to take it in!

I don't want to show the whole thing because I want it to be a semi-surprise for Taylor at Ring Dance--which is now only 17 days away! And May is now here so that makes it seem even closer. Hopefully finals and work will make the time go by faster. :)
